The Greater Monroe Kennel Club Objectives
To further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs
To protect and advance the interests of dog shows and various trials
To promote responsible dog ownership
To encourage sportsmanlike competition
To conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, trials or any other performance event under the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club
Standing Rules
The President, Show Chairperson or Assistant Chairperson will not own, co-own, enter, show or exhibit any dog at a GMKC Conformation Show, Obedience or Rally Trial. A club member whose job is directly involved with the selection or hospitality of judges will not own, co-own, enter, show or exhibit any dog at any GMKC Conformation Show, Obedience or Rally Trial. In the same vein of fairness any GMKC Club Officer, Board Member, or Member that owns, or co-owns a dog that is entered, show or exhibited, will not attend the Judges Luncheon, Judges Dinner or any other function hosted for the Judges by the GMKC.
Members
GMKC Members live in Charlotte, Concord, Harrisburg, Hartsville, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Lancaster, Marshville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Monroe, Oakboro, Rockwell, and Wingate, The majority of the club members live in the immediate Monroe area.
Meetings
The Greater Monroe Kennel Club meetings are held every second
Tuesday of the month. The meetings are held at the Hilltop Bistro, 1602
E. Roosevelt Boulevard (intersection of Hwy 74 & Hwy 601), Monroe,
NC. All are encouraged and welcome to attend. Meeting begins at 7:00
pm, but come early to eat dinner and meet the members.
The business meeting (aka Board meeting -(closed to guests) is held
following the regular monthly meeting.

How to Become a Member
Becoming a member of the Greater Monroe Kennel Club takes four easy steps.
- You first must attend three meetings as a guest.
- On the third meeting you may complete the application form.
- Have two members sponsor you.
- Submit dues payment for the current year with the application form.
All applications are to be filed with the Membership Secretary and each application is to be read at the first meeting following its receipt. The membership chairman will do a home visit prior to the next meeting. At the next club meeting the application will be voted upon and affirmative votes of two-thirds of the members present and voting by secret ballot at that meeting shall be required to elect the applicant.
All members must be in good standing with The American Kennel Club and subscribe to the purpose of this Club. We have three types of membership:
- Individual Membership-open to all persons 18 years of age and older
- Household Membership-offered to two or more individuals who are 18 years or older. Each is entitled to one vote with the maximum of two votes per household.
- Junior Membership-Open to all persons under the age of 18. Juniors enjoy all club privileges except the right to vote and hold an office.
